When ICU nurse Johanna returned home early from her vacation in February of 2020, she could not have known the toll it would eventually take on her physical and mental health. After treating her hospital’s first COVID positive patient, the chaos began to blur, and the pressure started to build. By the summer of 2020, Johanna struggled to cope. Like so many of her colleagues on the frontline, Her inability to find sleep only served to expedite her declining mental health. Using her prior experience with therapy, Johanna speaks to the daily trauma she faced during the pandemic and what drove her to finally reach out for the help she needed.
