In the inaugural episode of the series, Miriam shares her story of courage, perseverance and vulnerability. A travel nurse working in New York City in February 2020, Miriam chose to extend her contract rather than leave her friends and colleagues on the precipice of the deadliest pandemic the globe has ever faced. Using experience as a level 1 trauma nurse and time spent in the rural villages of Cambodia on a medical mission, Miriam speaks to the significance of strong leadership, the power of self-preservation practices, and the importance of accepting one’s vulnerability and limits.
She encourages her colleagues on the front line to join her in reaching out for help and experience the benefits a conversation with a mental health care professional can provide.
